Swab Barcelona 2012 presents the AIDS charity project, Swab Toy’z for FLS, hand in hand with the Lluita Contra la Sida Foundation Fighting Aids, and the participation of about 100 artists and designers who will make an artistic intervention on a white QEE’s of 8″, turning each one into a unique and exclusive piece.

There will be an exhibition of the customized Toyz during the days of Swab Barcelona 2012 (23-26 May), along with a catalog that will document each of those sold in the auctions organized by Swab Barcelona 2012. This publication will undoubtedly contribute on the spreading of the project on the international art world. Furthermore, to enhance its dissemination, a selection of Toyz will be exhibited in several European Art Fairs. Participation in this project becomes a unique opportunity for artists and designers to show their work by contributing to this act of solidarity.

The project will be curated by the architect, collector and expert in the international Art Toyz, Juan Redón.

The 100 Qee’s will be sold online on the Swab Barcelona website and some of them at an auction during the days of the Fair.

The benefits of the auction will be destined entirely to the Lluita Contra la Sida Foundation Fighting Aids (FLS), a non-profit organisation whose core missions are healthcare, research and teaching in the field of HIV infection. The Foundation has its own HIV unit in the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Badalona (Barcelona), an international medical reference in their research on the disease.

Siempre quiero saber más de lo que se ahora, por lo que siempre estoy buscando los límites de mi realidad.

De pequeño querías ser...?
Cuando era niña nunca pude imaginarme a mí misma teniendo un trabajo "real", por lo que ser artista me viene muy bien.

Un ídolo? Abraham-Hicks.

Un vicio? No - Cualquier cosa. (Eso sería la negación).

Un rincón para perderte? Alhambra, no he estado allí todavía, pero para mí este lugar sería como si mis dibujos cobraran vida.

Como te imaginas de aquí a diez años? Muy feliz.

En una palabra cómo definirías barcelona? Vibrante.

Que te gustaría encontrar en una feria de arte? Una interesante selección de artistas jóvenes, y piezas de calidad entre otras más conocidas, buena puesta a punto de los stands, un par de áreas de exposiciones que representen la visión de un curador, conferencias sobre  temas de vanguardia y  buena comida, que es muy importante.

Una razón para amar swab? Un montón de nuevos artistas.

Un sueño: Llegar a ser cada vez menos realista.

How do you define yourself? I always want to know more, than I know right now, so I am looking for the boundaries of my reality.
As a child you wanted to be ...? As a child I could never imagine myself having a "real" job, so being an artist suits me very well.

An idol? Abraham-Hicks.

A vice? Non - Whatsoever. (That would be denial).

A place where you could get lost? Alhambra, I haven´t been there yet, but for me this place will be like my drawings have come to life.

How can you imagine you in the next 10 years? Very happy.

How would you define the city of Barcelona in only one word? Vibrant.

What would you like to find in an art fair? 
An interesting selection of young artists, and quality pieces between the more known art, good set-up of the booths, a couple of area's with exhibitions that represent the view of a curator, lectures on cutting-edge subjects and good food, that's very important

One reason to love swab? Lots of new artists.

One dream: To become less and less realistic.

Concepta was in Berlin and May Jané talk with us about her experience;

Hola soy May Jané, sillera y os voy a contar mi recién aventura de Street Art&Design en Berlín…Llego a Berlín el 26 de octubre con dos sillas. La ocasión lo merece: se estrena la Feria de Diseño Qubique. Los organizadores tienen el aval y prestigio de ser los mismos que la famosa y conocida feria Bread&Butter del mundo de la moda. Como hace apenas unos meses que he creado mi empresa me presento sin más a Berlín para tratar de infiltrarte en este acontecimiento... El día jueves 27 entro en la Feria, tiene lugar en el recinto Tempelhoff Airport, antiguo Hangar, aeropuerto construido durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. El espacio es increíble, precioso. Una arquitectura sobria, muy alemana que transporta a los terribles pero no menos sugestivos tiempos de la oscura época Socialista Nacionalista, pero como los mismos organizadores de la Feria apuntan en su web: “ the airport of Berlin Tempelhof has become a symbol of freedom more than anything else. The history of West Berlin wouldn't be the same without the airlift, which brought supplies to the city from 1948 to 1949.” Me paseo por la feria con unos cárteles de “Se buscan agentes” (copio cártel de “WANTED”)  y los pego por los alrededores del recinto ferial, mi misión consiste en encontrar nuevos agentes alrededor del mundo para poder crear una red de ventas internacional. Después de pasearme y hablar con la organización acuerdo que al día siguiente haremos una jornada de Street Art&Design en la Feria con dos graffiteros y mis sillas.

ACCIÓN:

El viernes 28 llegamos a Berlin-Tempelhoff los artistas Bert van Wijk y Michel "Cren" Pietsch con dos sillas modelo “La Nuit” diseño de Serra&DeLaRocha para Concepta.

La organización nos cede un espacio y una pared para nuestra Street Art&Design performance en el Hangar 7, al lado de un restaurante de la Feria.

Durante el viernes los artistas pintan la palabra “Concepta” sobre la pared.

Durante la jornada del sábado 28 de octubre los artistas pintan cada uno una silla modelo La Nuit.

RESULTADO:

Lo más fresco y llamativo de la feria fue nuestra actuación en vivo. La gente se paraba y se enfrascaba de la actuación en vivo de dos grafiteros.

Concepta Barcelona, se fusionó con el arte urbano de Berlín.
