A fin de adaptar SWAB a las nuevas exigencias actuales, asì como potenciar su implantación en el tejido cultural de Barcelona y reflejar las circunstancias macroeconómicas que afectan al sector cultural y por tanto consolidar SWAB dentro el calendario internacional, hemos modificado las fechas de celebración  de SWAB 2013, trasladándolas a la semana del 3 al 6 de octubre.

Esta nueva implantación permitirá además mejorar los programas de coleccionistas y de adquisiciones involucrando a un espectro más amplio de operadores culturales.

Así mismo y para apoyar a las galerías en su participación a SWAB y en un paso hacia la sostenibilidad, Swab dispondrá en la edición del 2013 de dos tipos de stands, uno de 25m2 a un precio de 4000€ y otro de 15m2 a un precio de 2500€.

In order to adapt SWAB to the current cultural demand, upgrade its situation in the cultural scene and reflect the macroeconomic circumstances affecting the cultural sector, we have decided to move the dates for SWAB’s celebration to Oct 3-6. This new date will permit us to consolidate SWAB Barcelona Art Fair in the International Art Fair calendar.
This choice gives us the opportunity to improve both the collectors and the acquisition program, involving a larger range of cultural actors.

Furthermore, in order to support the galleries participation, SWAB Barcelona Art Fair will offer two different sized stands, one with a size of 25m² for 4000€ and a second, with a size of 15m² for 2500€.

Eight bodies play through space forming a meta-performative society to fictitiously parallel that of our own contemporary social positioning. Bringing into light the communicability of the “body”, it is the experience in real time from which we can animate sentiment. In what ways does the body serve as a mode of communication? The skin, gesticulation, and presence of our bodies fall to the wayside of spoken language but nevertheless serve as a complimentary and vital factor of communicability. What can the body say about the body and in what ways is our physicality controlled on and individual and massive level?
Using the capabilities of the body (sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing) can we detect and observe the position of that acting and reacting body we call ours? We perform the performance of everyday life to expose the overlapping compliments and contradictions of our ontology.

SWAB URBAN 2012

This new year, Swab Barcelona will have a new space, the Plaza Universo, providing access to the Fair from Avenida Maria Cristina, which will enable the organization of artistic activities in the same fairgrounds. The aim of these activities is to offer the possibility to young emerging artists to present their work in the context of an international art fair. Therefore, we present two projects that we began in this fifth edition in the hope of consolidating for subsequent editions.

Swab Urban

With the participation of emerging urban artists from the ADB project (Barcelona Art District), a creative explosion, curated by Arcadi Poch, Kognitif, that will offer the chance to see the creation and development process of emerging artists interventions  from cities such as Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, New York, San Francisco and Sao Paulo, and art students from schools such as Eina, IDEP, La Llotja, Pau Gargallo and the Faculty of Fine Arts, University Barcelona. The confirmed artists are
Lucas, Spogo, Clara Nadal, Joaquim, Brusco, Jorge Ro, Vinz, Limow, Aryz, Inocuo, Lo siento, Kenor, Zosen, Dixon, Dave, Oriol Moragrega, Aleix Gordo, Difusor, Ivana Flores, Dyox, Misnines, Ainize Txopitea, Xupet, Uri, Mateo Fumero, Xavi Sert, Pablo Marfá, Kike Mestre, Marco Gasser, Alex Gordo&Jalón, Kram, Michael Bevilacqua, Jens-Peter Brask and Ulrik Schiodt.

In collaboration with Tina Zlieger, a U.S. Commissioner, will present ART BOX, an art project consisting of a set of ten boxes of wood about 2×2 m, to be painted by 10 emerging artists and to be installed in the Plaza Universo. The visiting public can view and buy the boxes during the days of the Fair.
